COLORADO NEWS HEADLINES


COLORADO ENERGY FACT

The latest WECC reliability study - 10 Year Coordinated Plan Summary, June 2005 - predicts that by 2014 approximately 25,155 megawatts (MW) of planned net generation will need to be built to maintain adequate reserve margins.  Currently only 10,000 MW are under construction.

Colorado's Renewable Energy Standard:  It' Impact on the Future Electric Capacity Needs of the State.   This white paper by the Colorado Energy Forum concludes that Colorado will need to build a significant number of power plants in the next 18 years – in addition to aggressively building new renewable energy facilities and ramping up energy conservation efforts – in order to meet the state’s anticipated growth in demand for electricity.

 

 


 

More Transmission Needed:  Colorado’s Electric System And Why It Needs Expanding.  This report by the Colorado Energy Forum notes that Colorado faces a potentially severe energy crisis if the state’s system of high voltage electric transmission lines is not expanded in the next several years.
